My Updated Childhood Room

Since moving back in with my parents (and in a historic house to boot) I have set about the task of updating my childhood room, weaving in my silly little trinkets (a mini couch full of cats?) with vintage pieces, such as the little birdcage and old suitcases. I was also thrilled when my mother gave me her glass front armoire, which she used to house her own little trinkets, but as you can I see I decided to showcase my most important possessions- my shoes! (Of course, it is a bit overflowing, with pairs on top and beside it as well...) You can also see the little card my mother gave to me a few weeks ago. I think in a dream world that is what I would want to look like.

It's still a work in progress, but here's a looksie at what I've done so far. I can't decide about the fairy lights around my bed. I have a lace canopy that I could also put on it, but I haven't tried it yet (not to mention there are several bulbs out in the string). I'm currently still looking for shelves to put up in other parts of the room, as well as some ornate frames or mirrors.

Thoughts/ideas?

Love the blue with the white hook rack and birdcage!
Your shoe cabinet reminds me of the one Becky Bloomwood has in "Shopaholic and Sister" by Sophie Kinsella =D

beautiful - have a look for the woven baubles of fairly lights - you can pick colours or looks (I think they might have been on the kingdom of style blog recentlyish too) - little birds to wire around things - or those little fat glass bird ornaments ... long stem pastel roses and some fat but pretty floor cushions ... oooh, what a fab room you have to dress ... get some of your vintage clothes out and about too :) hope that helps
