There's Nothing Sweet About Me

I finally got around to taking some pictures of the things I have in the store, yay!
Mostly handmade headbands, but a few vintage babygems mixed in as well! And a shot of the tank tops I made, as well as the little black mini skirt. Nothing too special but small accomplishments for me all the same :)

And here is a random shot of the store, with our lovely lime green jewelry display case, and some dwindling scarves...

and lastly, a picture of an outfit I wore last week at some point. Something rather simple for me, but I felt like a little cupcake all day. A bright yellow one. with ribbons.

Fin

Last night Mackenzie and I went over to her friend Andrew's new apartment and then to a show at The End to see some of our friends play. It was a lovely evening but I will say that my feet were killing me by 1 am.

We walked arm in arm, but I didn't feel his touch

So my musical obsession at the moment is with Bat for Lashes. Lately I have been throwing myself into anything whimsical and fairytale-like, and songs like Horse and I and What's a Girl to Do? have been perfect for it. I have had her album for some time now, but hadn't gotten around to listening to it until now, and now I have it on repeat. I love how Natasha Khan translates her style of music so wonderfully into her style as well, especially with her face makeup. Who doesn't love a good sparkle on the eyes?

Where is my mind?

i am a bit grumbly today. Well, yes and no. Certain things are making me smile. However, I am a sad sad little girl that i missed Jenny last night. oh it pains me to even think about it. So let's pretend it never even happened, mmk? Also, I keep forgetting to bring my camera into the shop so I can take pictures of all the pretty little things I have for sale. On Saturday I finished a black mini skirt, with 2 vintage brass buttons on the side. So cute. If no one buys it soon I may snatch it back up for myself....also I keep stealing glances at the white and gray fur headband I made, because I think it will be the perfect winter accessory this year... so here I am listening to the bird and the bee in the store and putting off my loads of homework. but i am still smiling about things. I'm getting coffee later with mackenzie and jena at Bongo, yay!

so I am trying out the whole wearing the scarf as a bow around my neck thing. However, I think it needs to be a bit longer.. It still looks cute, no? Also, I swear I do not have bags under my eyes that big, I mean I was up late last night but not that late...some weird shadow that photobooth picked up?

A beacon of white blonde light

So recently I have realized that I am insanely attracted to anything with a blonde head of hair. Something about platinum blonde tresses just completely endears me to someone, whether celebrity, designer, or just some random girl on the street. I was perusing nylon's website and came across pictures of a model named Portia Freeman. Voluminous blonde curls. I'm in love. or lust. or something. Not to mention the outfits she is wearing in these photos made me melt just a little bit more...

I do believe she is rumored to be seeing Pete Doherty, which makes me love her slightly less, but just let me look at her hair again and all is forgotten :) ok i'm starting to sound a bit deranged...

PS. my new lovely friend Hannah dyed my hair last night and it looks fabulous. A lighter, ashier toned blonde...i'm on the road to being that coveted white blonde once more!

Fast & Cheap

I need to stop spending money. Especially on 50 dollar nylon spandex dresses from AA....oops.

I twirled around all night, as I was wearing the figure skating dress. And I wore ballet flats, so..I guess that means I was a ballet figure skater. Every 6 year old's dream, right?

Keep your head

I had a date last night! Here is what I wore :)

There is something extra special about getting all dolled up and actually having somewhere lovely to go, and someone to go with! And I had been waiting for the right outfit to wear these shoes with as well, I love them, reminiscent of some I have seen in magazines lately...and don't they kind of remind you of the wicked witch of the west from The Wizard of Oz??? no? maybe it's me...

will you make out with me?

Ok so for the past month or so I have been in an intense black leggings and white tee phase, channelling some sort of edgier side of myself. However, perusing various blogs I am longing to slink back to my girly babydoll frilly, erin fetherston inspired dresses. Peter pan collars and black tights, maryjanes and headbands with bows and socks like the dears above, oh my. I can't wait for it to cool down here, because I am tired of wearing the same old things over and over again, and the humidity of the past few days is making me cranky, alright?

Functional Fashion?

I was reading my new Zink magazine, and they featured this interesting little cuff, made out of scissors. Apparently, it can be worn two ways, meaning you can close the blades. This immediately reminded me of my friend Adam, who this summer at a friend's apartment decided to bend some extremely moldable silverware into a bracelet...or a "forklet" as he calls it. I also remember my mother having little baby silver spoons bent into rings that wrap around the fingers. They're precious, I'll have to get ahold of some pictures of them...

Adam's forklet...disregard the other fork in the photo, we were eating cake :)

Thoughts, opinions on this wearable cutlery???

Don't be a traffic light

My guilty pleasure since early summer has been the deliciously catchy tunes of The Ting Tings. I must admit I am drawn to anything cute and adorable, you know like kittens, and cupcakes, and bows, so naturally I was first drawn to their name. After seeing some of their videos, I kind of fell in love with the singer Katie White's kitschy/cute and offbeat style. I love how she manages to wear jumpers and felt hats while still looking like a rock star. yay! I am also definitely channeling her intheface straight hair and bangs right now.

PS: I received my faux leather vintage b.b. dakota jacket in the mail today!!!!! pictures soon :) now its back to classes until this evening, ick.

That's the way to my heart

Yesterday, after realizing that the front desks were closed for labor day weekend and that I did not have to work, I decided to head over to Borders to pick up the new issue of Lula magazine. Sadly, they did not have my one true love, but I did pick up two new magazines that I had never read before. One is called Preen, and the other is Zink. I have only flipped through them, however I am impressed. I have been a loyal follower of Nylon and Lula, but perhaps it is time to branch out a bit in the world of glossy pages. I couldn't find any images of the Preen issue I picked up, but it has Zoe Kravitz on the cover, who is quite lovely and fashionable. However, here is Zink:

I recommend you pick either one of them up
